On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cervantino International Festival (FIC), which took place last October in the state of Guanajuato, the commemorative book with which the five decades of the artistic encounter which, in its last edition, presented 2,500 artists from 33 countries, 159 performances in the performing arts and 90 activities in visual arts, cinema and literature; figures with which he approved that he is the most important cultural event in Latin America.

The presentation took place at National Museum of Arts of Mexico and was headed by the Governor of the State of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez; FIC Director General Mariana Aymerich; the tourism secretary, Juan Álvarez; the director general of the National Institute of Culture, Adriana Camarena de Obeso and collaborators Sergio Vela and Juan Arturo Brennan.

50 years of culture

In the presentation, Camarena said that this publication has about 500 photographs taken since 1972, when the first edition of this festival began, 20 writers were responsible for telling the most relevant events that occurred in this exhibition and added that the book is divided into three parts; the first concerns the governmental, academic and social perspective; the second talks about the transitions that the directors have had and finally the experiences of the artists.

Aymerich mentioned that as part of this celebration, they made a commemorative banknote for the National Lottery and the poster exhibition is also presented in the room Jaime Torres Bodet from National Polytechnic Institute.

Brennan, who contributed to the book, said the biggest challenge was capturing 50 years of music in just 300 pages and the hardest part for the writer was knowing where to start to approach the subject, what were the more relevant. facts to say and which years are the most representative during all this time.

Finally, Governor Diego Sinhue added that this book, in commemoration of the International Cervantino Festival, preserves the prosperity of the history of an event born in Guanajuato to celebrate with the world the universality of the humanism of Cervantes, which has highlighted the transcendence of art and culture as powerful tools to promote the social and human development of people.
