‘They call my husband grandpa’: Couple slammed for being 27 years apart
They say that for love there is no age and this couple showed it because despite criticism from family and friends they were able to get married and start a family despite being almost 30 years old, the couple even said that on some occasions their relatives wanted to interfere in their relationship when they would not reach the altar and have children.
Gretchen Dillon 36 years old she is 27 years younger than her husband Michael Dillon who is currently 63 years old and he assures that contrary to the fact that their relationship is affected by the age difference, it has been favorable since his partner is a “better father”, although some confuse him with the grandfather of their own son.
“People often confuse my husband with my father or my grandfather, but we laugh,” said Gretchen, who met Michael after running into him several times at the local supermarket and start a friendship.
How was the love story born?
Gretchen had just moved in Syracuse, NY, from Pennsylvania to the United States and was happy to have made a friend. Michael, helped her find accommodation in the city by offering her a free room and a job managing her Airbnb.
Months passed and a friendship was born between them, however, they soon realized that their feelings were different from those of friends, because each time they were more romantic with each otherso over time they took a chance and started dating.
Gretchen assured that before meeting her husband never imagined being in a relationship with an older manHe never even thought of being intimate with someone who was several years older than him, but once he reaffirmed his love for his partner, he appreciated every step he took with him, he told South West News Service.
The lovers also shared that their friends were surprised by the age difference but soon realized thatThe love that existed between them went beyond any number: “My friend tried to stop me from marrying him because he kept saying that I was going to be widowed since he is almost 30 years older than me, but I loved him and I didn’t care,” Gretchen said.
But Michael has always said that the age difference was an extremely useful advantage for the success of your relationship, because it is much more mature. And so it was that on Thanksgiving Day 2017, Michael proposed to Gretchen and after three and a half years of dating, they tied the knot in February 2018.
Some time later, the newlyweds decided that they wanted to start a family together and in 2021, Gretchen gave birth to her first child, while Michael became a father for the third time. The couple hosted the baby shannon and today they describe themselves as immensely happy.
“I would tell any woman in my position that life is too short to be unhappy. If anything it feels good in your stomachdo it,” Dillon told women who are afraid to think they are in a relationship that is not well regarded by society.
