Support for Twitch is limited to Chrome, Firefox and Edge only

Twitch announced on Wednesday (28) that users may face some connection errors on the platform via web access. For this, the company informed on Twitter that only Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge would receive browsing support.

According to the website information The border, Twitch’s restriction may be temporary and the company tries to locate and close the access points used to create bots. The platform outages began after users reported having difficulty accessing the service.

With that, Twitch Support announced that users should check if they were using updated versions of the three supported web browsers, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. The platform revealed that it will soon release a help article to fix the problems.

Twitch Chief Product Officer Tom Verrilli told users that browser restrictions are only a temporary measure. According to him, the platform tries to fight botnets used for hate attacks.

“Unfortunately, this is the job of keeping Twitch safe. People need to use a browser they don’t like today to stop tomorrow’s “hate raid”, Verrilli said on his Twitter account.

Despite this, Opera GX has assured Twitch users that it is still possible to access the platform through their browser, simply by updating to the latest version. Some people have tested other alternative browsers such as Brave and Safari and reported that sign-in access and videos worked normally.

On the other hand, not all Twitch features may be available right now. Some users who have used incompatible browsers have stated that they have encountered problems making purchases on the service.

Twitch hasn’t said how long this temporary support for some web browsers will take place. Recently, the platform announced that the company’s streamers will receive the same amount in subscriptions, regardless of the popularity of each of the influencers.
