Threads test search results in real time

Meta continues to work hard to make threads more attractive to its users. The social network, which positions itself as a direct competitor of Dedicate onself.

Users of the threads, especially those accustomed to what Twitter/X offers, often note that the Meta app is not yet a practical source of real-time information.

The app’s “for you” algorithm often displays older posts alongside newer ones, and its trending topics feature, a new feature recently introduced, only shows five topics at a time.

The tests should improve these points, with a new search tool that will allow users to filter results based on recent weather. The news was noticed by a Threads user and subsequently confirmed by an executive of the social network, Adam Mosseri.

“We are starting to test this with a small number of people to make it easier for them to find relevant search results in real time,” he wrote on his personal Threads account.

The usefulness of the resource, however, will depend on whether Meta makes the filter available for all topics on the platform, or whether it blocks the use of the tool on specific topics.

Mosseri also said last year that he didn’t want to encourage “difficult news” within Threads. Some users of the site have even criticized the removal of political content from recommendations and the blocking of search results for topics that Meta considers “potentially sensitive”, such as vaccines and Covid-19, even if the posts do not violate its rules.
