The group asks NASA for help… finding the Loch Ness Monster

One of the most famous urban legends of our time is, without a doubt, that of the Loch Ness Monster. And not so much in our time. There are centuries-old accounts of people seeing the creature. But they are nothing more than reports.

The closest thing to “proving” the monster’s existence was a dubious photograph from 1933. Today, 91 years later, a group called the Loch Ness Center wants to mount a mega-expedition to definitively prove that “Nessie” was real.

To do this, these Scots are asking for help. And it’s not for everyone!

In open letter Published on Wednesday last week (11), explorers enlisted the help of scientists, university students and even NASA, the American space agency, to locate the creature.

“We ask the experts for help. This includes scientists and universities, as well as NASA exploration pioneers, to provide research equipment and expertise. With the experts’ new equipment, we hope science can help unravel the loch’s mysteries and unexplained sightings since the legend of Nessie began 90 years ago.”says an excerpt from the letter.

What will this mission be like?

“We hope that Nessie hunters around the world will help us reach the people at NASA. Reach them through the power of social media. We just want your expert guidance to help us in our ongoing search for answers. We also hope that NASA experts will have advanced imaging technology to scan the lake.”the explorer told British newspaper The Independent.

What science says so far

As we have already said, no one to date has managed to provide any proof that the monster was real.

The famous “photo of the surgeon“, from the 1930s, would show the silhouette of the creature on the surface of the lake. But there are people who say it’s editing. Others said it could be a large eel. There are even those who talk about a submarine with a different roof.

The fact is that, in July 2003, a BBC team conducted a thorough investigation in the area. The lake was traversed from one end to the other by divers and about 600 sonars for days on end. Result? They found nothing!

The BBC, therefore, after a scientific experiment, concluded that the monster does not exist.

A new theory was born in 2019. New Zealand researchers examined the living species of the lake and found traces of DNA samples from European eels. The study, which is not conclusive, suggests that the monster may be (or may have been) a giant eel.

Nothing, however, has been confirmed or can be considered definitive. May NASA help us clarify this issue. Or not… They must have more important things to do.
