Dozens of sheep were caught walking strangely in a circle during 12 days non-stop in a farm China. Captured videos show the herd wandering in a continuous clockwise motion around their paddock in early November.
The footage has shocked farm owners as they try to decipher his mysterious behavior. Ms. Miao said that she started with some sheep and gradually other members joined. So they contacted a local television channel to film the events. In CCTV footage, sheep can be seen following each other in a circle.
While other sheep stand in the middle of a circle, some decide to join the march and others remained in the very center of the circle, completely motionless. What happened was recorded in the city of Baotou in Inner Mongolia.
Their keepers counted that there were 34 sheepfolds on the farm, but only the sheep in pen number 13 started the walk and little by little the others began to reproduce the movement. So far, it is not known what caused them to behave this way.
Is it a disease?
There is a disease that makes some the animals appear disoriented and begin to turn in circles. It is listeriosiswhich can inflame one side of the brain and cause sheep to behave strangely, but it is not confirmed that this condition also affects sheep.
Scientists have long studied why other animals like sharks and turtles move in circular patterns. But so far no conclusions have been drawn.
