Magazine points out that Abramovich lost about R$ 37 billion
Roman Abramovich, Russian oligarch and owner of Chelsea, has not had a good year. According to information released by Forbes magazine, since the beginning of this year, 2022, he has lost about R$ 8.1 billion dollars (R$ 37.3 million reais, at today’s price).
The war between Russia and Ukraine directly affected his pocketbook and his health. According to Forbes, Abramovich had an estimated fortune of US$15 billion in January (R$69.2 billion), however, he saw that amount drop to US$6.9 billion (31.8 billion).
So, for the first time in six years, he is no longer among the ten richest sports team owners in the world. With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the British government sanctioned Abramovich on account of his connection with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, which the billionaire denies and has blocked his assets in the country. With that, Chelsea was put up for sale, however, the deal has not yet been completed.
