The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Secretary of Tourism of Nayarit and president of the Union of Secretaries of Tourism (Asetur), Juan Enrique Suárez del Real Tostado, They announced five international events that will explode tourism activity and the economy in different destinations of the entity.

Also accompanied by Captain Rafael Gómez Conejo, general director of Turimar-Islas Marías, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted that Nayarit is consolidating as a privileged destination for national and international tourists, given its great natural, cultural and gastronomic wealth.

He stressed that its appeal would increase with the first edition of the Marias Islands Half Marathon, on María Madre Island, organized in close collaboration with the Ministry of the Navy, the Government of Nayarit, Turimar-Islas Marías and the Federal Ministry of Tourism.

He explained that, in the 21 kilometers of competition, You will visit the most spectacular corners of María Madre Island, and without a doubt, this represents an interesting challenge, where the nature of the Biosphere Reserve and the history of the place will be the ideal setting for this sporting event, in which the participation of 250 athletes is expected.

“In this half marathon, the famous Mexican marathon runner Germán Silva, double winner of the New York marathon and sixth in the Barcelona and Atlanta Olympic Games, will honor us with his presence, as a competitor, special guest and ambassador of the race.” , did he declare.

Torruco Marqués also announced the completion of the second edition of Nayarit of Heaven, an acrobatic skydiving challenge on the waters of Mexcaltitán, San Blas and Islas Marías, from November 18 to 20, with the participation of the best athletes in the world in this discipline.

Likewise, from November 17 to 20 the first edition of Vuela Nayarit will take place, a paragliding free flight exhibition, with two takeoff runways, one in the magical city of San Blas and another on the Ceboruco volcano, also Magic City already there.

Meanwhile, on December 9, in the hotel zone of Bahía de Banderas there will be the first edition of: 21 kilometers Riviera Nayarit, an athletics race in 5, 10 and 21 kilometer modes; while, for July 2024, the first edition of Surfea Nayarit, an international surfing event, will take place on the heavenly beaches of Nayarit.

The Tourism Secretary stressed that the transmission of these spectacular competitions can be followed on social networks, as well as on the websites of the various competitions. Likewise, there will be special coverage on the Disney Plus platform and the ESPN channel.

“With these five events, between 500,000 and one million daily digital impacts are expected, in addition to an income of just over 53 million pesos. At Sectur we will continue to promote events of this magnitude, convinced that they contribute to reaffirming Mexico as a tourism power on the international stage,” he said.

In addition, it promotes economic flow to localities, in accordance with the instruction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to make tourism a tool of social reconciliation.

The head of Sectur indicated that in the second quarter of 2023, Nayarit ranked fourth nationally in attracting foreign direct tourism investments, with 46 million 400 thousand dollars; In addition, this entity is part of the Sea of ​​Cortés Alliance, which aims to promote, develop and boost tourism activity in this macro-region, according to the principles of sustainability, competitiveness and inclusion.

He added that in terms of connectivity, the Tepic-Compostela-Las Varas highway is under construction and will be completed in December, with an investment ofand 4 thousand 915 million pesos; and work is underway for the expansion and improvement of the Tepic International Airport, which will be completed in February 2024, with an investment of P2,720 million.

He highlighted that, according to forecasts, the year 2023 will end with an economic impact of 31 billion dollars, or 26% more than in 2019. At the same time, the average expenditure for international air tourism will be 1,163 dollars, i.e. 16% more than in 2019.

“All these works will encourage the arrival of more tourists in the State, which has also increased its tourist offer, with five new Magical Cities since last June, which are added to the four already existing, and where before the end du This year we will launch the Magical Color Routes initiative,” concluded Torruco Marqués.
