Zoom is renewed thanks to artificial intelligence

Zoom has gone more than 10 years without receiving any significant changes to its meeting software, but things are changing. The company has listened to user feedback on the need to revamp its features and will soon use artificial intelligence for a complete overhaul of the program. The information comes from the website ZDNet.

This week, the Zoom in the workplace, the AI-powered collaboration platform announced a few weeks ago. A redesign that updates almost every aspect of the app.

“OR Zoom in the workplace delivers an AI-powered experience that powers productivity and collaboration to help teams make the most of their time,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom, in a statement.

The program interface will have new customization options. Users can choose from four color themes in addition to the basic gray background currently found behind video screens. The call host can add different backgrounds to the meeting to provide a more immersive experience.

Another novelty brings a sort of “stage” to online meetings. In other words, the other participants in the call are positioned at the bottom, while the person leading the meeting is highlighted at the top, as seen below. This approach aims to promote better discussion among participants.

It will also be possible to share and import third-party documents and co-edit texts during meetings, similar features to the already popular screen sharing. Users can also customize the toolbar at the bottom of the screen to keep only their favorite features.

Interactions powered by artificial intelligence

New collaboration features have been implemented, including a new “meetings” tab, where users can find all the information they need for their meetings, including resources such as PDFs or videos.

At the end of a call, the function Hub meeting event brings together everything shared during the meeting, including documents, complementary AI summaries, recordings and chats.

Continuous Meeting Chat automatically shares a meeting summary in your team chat. Eagle Team chatlocated next to the “meetings” tab, it helps users access all chat-related features.

OR Team chat it will also include new generative artificial intelligence features AI Zoom Companionsuch as topic summary to quickly follow sent messages, sentence completion to write new messages and quick scheduling that allows any user, during the call, to schedule a future meeting in seconds.

To access the Zoom in the workplacethe company says account owners and users can update their Zoom app to version 6.0.0 or download the update from the software’s official website.

OR AI Zoom Companion is included at no additional cost to customers with paid services assigned to their Zoom user accounts. In other words, anyone using Zoom for free should not have access to AI resources.
