The debut of the service took place this Monday (23) in Hyderabad and was accompanied by Indian Minister, Telangana Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao and Amazon representatives in the country.

“Our investment in Amazon Air will only further enhance the delivery experience for all our customers in India. Additionally, the launch will support over 1.1 million sellers in the country, enabling tremendous growth in ancillary businesses such as transportation and aviation and generating numerous job opportunities,” said Akhil Saxena, vice president of customer service at Amazon.

Amazon launched the Air platform in 2016 in the US, which later expanded to Europe. Currently, the service has more than 110 aircraft in 70 destinations around the world, including Brazil.

Amazon begins delivering orders by drone

Amazon has begun delivering orders using MK27-2 drones to customer backyards in California and Texas. Now city dwellers can register to receive their orders via drone.

Amazon Prime Air, still in testing, aims to deliver within an hour of ordering.

In 2020, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave initial approval for Amazon’s use of delivery drones.
