Handball: France will host the Men’s World Cup in 2029

France has won the 2029 Men’s Handball World Cup co-hosting bid with Germany, the French Handball Federation (FFHB) announced on Tuesday (16 April).

After the 2017 World Cup and then the Women’s Euro 2018, FFHandball aims to organize a special event in January 2029.– said in the press release of FFHB.

FFHB President Philip Bana welcomes “An additional opportunity to continue the development of handball” in France too “A turning point in the history of the two biggest handball federations”.

Paris will host the opening match

France have already hosted the event three times, first in 1970, then in 2001 and in 2017 – with the Blues winning at home in the last two editions. As for Germany, the host of the last Euros, which was won by France in January, it organized the 2019 edition together with Denmark.

The exact program has yet to be finalized, but FFHB has already announced that Paris will be responsible for hosting the opening match, followed by the final four of the tournament.

Two world host cities in France and three in Germany, to be announced later, will host the preliminary stages and quarterfinals of the World Cup.
