“The team wasn’t doing well at the start of the season, because several players didn’t know each other, but we knew how to endure this moment and as we were playing against big rivals, we started to trust each other. We went through some great pitches: Betis, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce and Barcelona. These victories have given us confidence and this team deserves this final”.

Debut as a goalkeeper

Borré has become a power forward. However, the beginning of his career was completely different.

And that’s how the Colombian started his journey as a goalkeeper, a different position than the one he performs today.

Playing goalkeeper was largely due to the admiration he had for Óscar Córdoba, the legendary Colombian goalkeeper.

However, Rafael realized he had other skills, so he decided to move up positions, until he became a centre-forward.

“At that time I really liked Óscar Córdoba, wherever he went he made a big difference, it was amazing. Then I climbed and I started to be central, then I was midfielder and I ended up attacking. It was very good because I liked throwing myself into everything, but I think as they support you and correct the falls, it starts to complicate everything a bit”.
