Furthermore, the meteor goldfish would have had more fragile health, being easily affected by the action of pathogens. As a result, the animal would never be found again. Therefore, it is now believed that the species would have become extinct and that speculation about its reappearance may have arisen from goldfish born with a deficiency.

In other words, the theory is that goldfish underwent mutations and were born without tails, which would lead some people to believe in the existence or reappearance of the extinct or even legendary meteor goldfish.
