Perseid Meteor Shower: See images around the world

Every year, between mid-July and late August, the Earth passes through the debris cloud left by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. When these residues reach our planet’s atmosphere, the Perseids occur, a meteor shower with greatest visibility in the northern hemisphere, but also observable (to a lesser extent) in countries below the equator, such as Brazil – depending of factors such as favorable weather conditions and the least possible interference from light pollution.

This time, the maximum of this rain occurred last weekend, more precisely in the night between Saturday (12) and Sunday (13).

Since the Moon is in the waning phase, illuminated by only 5%, the visualization of the Perseid meteor shower (which has this name because it originates in the constellation of Perseus) has not been impaired, allowing observers from different parts of the world not only to contemplate the moment, as well as making beautiful recordings of the phenomenon, such as the ones you see below.

Twitter and Instagram users have been sharing beautiful footage of the Perseid meteor shower around the world.
