What happens if you sleep less than 7 hours a night? The artificial intelligence did a simulation

It is now widely believed that, to stay healthy, an adult needs eight hours of sleep a night. Recent studies have shown that seven hours are enough to rest, with positive benefits on the ability to concentrate, problem solving and mental health as a whole. But what happens if you sleep less regularly?

A British mattress company, Simba Sleep, has published research showing the impact of sleep deprivation on people’s faces, with AI-generated simulations that will scare you.

Sleep deprivation has its consequences

Artificial intelligence did simulations

Using the data obtained, the company used artificial intelligence to simulate the impact of sleep deprivation on people’s faces.

In the image below, the technology simulated the faces of men of different ages who slept more than 7 hours a night (in the top row) and less than 7 hours a night (in the bottom row).

Then he did the same thing for the women’s faces.

Conclusions on sleep deprivation

As the company’s AI-powered images indicate (in the caption above), the effects of sleep deprivation on young people are more evident.

Lisa Artis, deputy chief executive of Simba’s partner charity, The Sleep Charity, pointed out that genetics also have an impact on appearance, but that sleep deprivation can make things worse.
