Welfare pension in CDMX: Here’s how you can deal with the new card

The Federal Secretariat of Welfare and the Government of Mexico City announced this Monday that the card of the Pension for Well-being program will be replaced by that of the Banco del Bienestar, therefore the cards of 852 thousand 929 elderly people will be changed from December 5 in order to be able to continue to receive the social pension in this bank.

The process of changing beneficiary cards will begin on December 5 and end on April 15, 2023, reported Welfare Secretary Ariadna Montiel Reyes, who stressed that “banking beneficiaries will strengthen this right by the direct delivery and without intermediaries of pensions”. This procedure will be carried out from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and for this, the federal government and the government of the capital have set up 62 delivery points in the capital of the country.

According to Montiel Reyes, it was on the instruction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that CDMX received the “preference” to start distributing cards because it is the state of the country with the largest number of elderly people. The official pointed out that 23 billion pesos are currently allocated to cover the social pension program in the country’s capital.

To obtain the Banco del Bienestar card and thus receive their pension, the elderly they will first have to identify the place and the date where they will have to withdraw their card, for this they only have to enter the page gob.mx/bienestar. Next, they must select the Pension for the Welfare of the Elderly icon and write their CURP.

Below will be the name and address of where they should pick up their new wellness card, and the date and time they should report. Once the appointment has been made, the staff of the social secretariat, who will have to identify themselves, will take care of delivering the card to the person’s home. Note that the card will be personally delivered to the beneficiaries. Remember that eight days before delivery of the plastic, addiction staff will make a home visit to confirm the changeas well as the place and date of receipt of the card.

The delivery dates of the new cards will be determined according to the neighborhood where the beneficiaries live. In addition, the welfare secretary reported that they must keep the previous card in their possession, because it is a personal account.
