With the end of the 2023 summer vacation season, vacation ownership is consolidated as one of the most important segments for national tourism. According to the Mexican Association of Tourism Promoters (AMDETUR), in June and July the sector recorded average increases of up to 15% compared to 2022 in the number of memberships, reflecting the growing popularity of this concept among tourists thanks to its offer. terms and products.

In the same sense, the summer vacation season was a success for the vacation ownership sector, where the segment managed to exceed all its expectations in terms of membership sales, new memberships and percentages of ‘occupation.

The growth in sales is also reflected in the fact that owners have increased their membership levels, a statistic that reveals the high satisfaction rates of this format. At some clubs, owners who bought this summer achieved up to 30% of their total sales.

“The number of holiday owners has increased significantly over the past 20 years, becoming an important and resilient sector within the national tourism industry. “There will always be a vacation property that meets guest needs and preferences. » said Rosario Rodríguez, president of AMDETUR.

The good results of the summer are due to the joint effort of the sector to face the challenges that the global market is facing today, where, with all the world’s destinations open, travelers are starting to return to travel habits from three years ago. .

Faced with this phenomenon and with the aim of taking advantage of the fact that summer vacations are one of the favorite periods of Mexicans, promoters have deployed strategies to attract a greater number of national tourism with a differentiated and economically attractive offer .

AMDETUR highlights that Mexico is currently the second country in terms of global sales of timeshare or vacation ownership memberships, after the United States, and that today the percentage of occupancy in major tourism developments with ownership vacation was around 90%, 10 points above hotels without vacation ownership. club.

The Association has a national presence and brings together 90% of the developers and investors in the timeshare and vacation ownership sector in Mexico.
