The SAT increases its collection in 2023 and captures 2.27 trillion pesos

In the first half, it captured 2.27 trillion pesos, representing a real annual growth of 4% Credits: Special

From January to June 2023, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) collection two trillion 275 thousand 86 million pesos, which means a 4% increase in real terms, compared to the same period of 2022.

This is explained, according to Second Quarter 2023 Tax Management Report, due to the momentum that the income tax (ISR) has maintained in the first six months of the year, collecting one billion 378 thousand 611 million pesos, 2.7% more than in the during the same period of 2022.

This growth, according to the SAT, is the result of higher payments for the profits of legal persons and deductions from wages and salaries, which increased by 58 thousand 600 million pesos, compared to last year, which means a real increase of 4.3 percent. , at 581.5 billion from January to June.

I even consider that the progress of SRI is the result of the reform that took place in 2021 in terms of labor subcontracting, for which companies were forced to replace employers and resulted in a sustained increase in net withholdings of
wages and salaries. This is observed in the second quarter of this year, when the number of employers increased from 3.2% to 3.3%.

Similarly, the growth in tax revenues is supported by the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS), which increased by 140.2% in the first half compared to the same period a year ago, from 191 thousand 780 million pesos.

According to the SAT, the increase in collection is the result of “the favorable behavior of gasoline, diesel, beer and soft drinks. The tax on these products represented 70% of the collection of the Special Tax on Manufacturing and Services”.
