Bolsa Institucional de Valores and ITAM reward the best financial analysis of a public company

The Institutional Stock Exchange (BIVA) and the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico academic excellence recognized and rewarded “The best financial analysis of a public company to the qualification jurywith the aim of linking academia with business.

Thus, in the BIVA auditorium, the competition took place where the three best teams of students from the economic and financial fields of ITAM presented the analysis of: Bachoco, Alsea and Traxión.

Among these, the winning team is the one that carried out the analysis of the Alsea company, led by Professor Haical Besil Shaadi, and the students Arturo de León, Diego Haces, Lourdes Vivanco, Pablo Labra, Luis Calzada, Luis Angel Guerra, Sandra Frías and Angel Mieres.

In this regard, Sylvia Meljem Enriquez, Head of the Accounting Department ITAM revealed that it is an effort by the university to promote academic excellence not only from the theoretical point of view, but also from the practical abilities and skills of the students.

“The competition is an initiative between ITAM and BIVA to Generate important professional skills among graduates. We teach a subject called Corporate Financial Analysis, where students are expected to integrate their knowledge of accounting, finance and markets to perform an analysis of a real business”.

Young people could be selected to fill a vacant position at BIVA

“The analysis of the best public company” explained Meljem, “is a showcase for young speakers who, in addition to the experience and qualification for their project, can be selected by BIVA to fill a vacant position, based on the performance shown by the students during their presentation”.

In addition, Meljem Enriquez explained that the winning team will be invited by BIVA to the next placement on the trading floor of the new exchange.

Finally, the teacher reported that this competition is a turning point through which young people face the real world, “its goal is to demonstrate that ITAM graduate students have skills that go beyond an exam.”
