Twitter bans ads that promote misleading climate change claims

The social network added that it will provide more information in the coming months on how it plans to provide a “trusted and authoritative context for discussions on climate change”.

“The announcements should not detract from important conversations about the climate crisis,” the company said in a statement Friday, outlining its new policy.

The announcement, which coincided with Earth Day, came hours before the European Union reached a deal to force big tech companies to take a closer look at their sites for hate speech, misinformation and other harmful content.
