Twitter launches podcasts for Android users who subscribe to Twitter Blue

Twitter will officially launch podcasts on its platform for Twitter Blue subscribers using Android phones. The version for iOS users had already been released previously.

The platform first announced it intended to introduce podcasts to its services last month. It is worth mentioning that podcasts, which will be within the new updated Spaces tab, will be accessible to a small group of users, both iOS and Android.

The new Spaces tab has been redesigned to support custom hubs for users who have been named “Stations”. In them it will be possible to collect content from different topics, such as news, music, sports, among others. The recommendations, which will appear to users to fill these stations, will be based on the themes and people you follow.

Additionally, Twitter Blue subscribers now also have access to a custom section of live and recorded podcasts, as well as being able to see which podcasts are the most popular in the world.

The app company said this update, which puts the podcast at the center of attention, is part of plans to give users a “complete and personalized audio destination.” Twitter also said that internal research showed that 45% of US-based users consume podcasts monthly, so the platform will automatically suggest more audio content, in order to help them discover more content from their favorite topics.
