This feature will no longer be available on Facebook and few users know about it
Facebook is an ever-evolving social network. We recently learned that the platform would remove a feature that has been active for several years.
It’s a function that was relevant for a while, but due to the updates that Facebook has had in recent years, it has lost a lot of importance, so much so that most users do not know that it will no longer be available.
It looks like Facebook will be phasing out the feature for good “Close friends”also known as “Friends nearby”. Meta would make the announcement to users via the most recent updates.

Facebook says goodbye to a classic function of its platform
The social network informed some users that the “close friends” function and other functions will be suspended from June 1 this year.
In addition to “Close Friends,” weather alerts will no longer be available, but will be after May 31. Gameplay information for these experiences, including location history and background location, will stop being collected after this date, even if previously enabled.
It is important to point out that these functions are going to be removed from both Android and iOS, so it is assumed that they could be gradually diluted through the fortnightly updates made by Meta.
