Elon Musk once again rules out hydrogen as an energy storage medium

They’re gonna have to stop asking Elon Musk on hydrogen as an energy storage medium. He doesn’t like it, he doesn’t shake hands, he doesn’t agree.

Tesla CEO reiterated his rejection of hydrogen as a possible alternative to a transition plan to a more sustainable future.

The World Energy Trade website quoted him in an interview at the Financial Times summit on the future of cars. Musk cataloged hydrogen as “dumbest thing i can imagine for energy storage”.

Elon was asked if he believed hydrogen could play an accelerating role in moving away from fossil fuels and his response was forceful: “Do not”.

For Elon Musk, the problem with hydrogen is that does not exist naturally on Earth: “You have to split the water by electrolysis or crack the hydrocarbons. And when you crack hydrocarbons, you haven’t really solved the fossil fuel problem, and the efficiency of electrolysis is mediocre.”.
