Flu vaccination: The campaign has not yet applied 50% of the doses

The State Department of Health in São Paulo has extended the flu vaccination campaign for another 30 days, until June 30. The closure was supposed to be this Tuesday (31), but the campaign hadn’t even reached 50% of the population: of the 80 million doses distributed by the Ministry of Health, only 35.8 million have been applied up to this Monday (30), until then on the penultimate day.

The extension was due to the low dose application rate in the target population. The campaign would end with more than 50% of the vaccines in stock.

Furthermore, this year, the release to the general public took place before the end of the campaign for priority groups. That’s because states and municipalities reported that demand for the immunizer was low and only 21 million doses had been applied in initial batches.

Immunizer is available for free in the Unified Health System (SUS) and also in the private network.
