The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) decided increase the incentive of the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) to fuels such as magna, super and diesel gasoline. In the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), it was reported that from May 27 to June 2, magna gasoline (octane rating less than 91) would receive tax support of 28.13%, an amount greater than 20.62% granted last week.

For this fuel, the Treasury will grant sellers a stimulus amount of 1.66 pesos per litre. While the consumption fee will be 4.25 pesos per liter. As for premium gasoline (octane number greater than or equal to 91 and non-fossil fuels), which had benefited from a “zero” fiscal stimulus for two consecutive weeks, the Treasury granted it 0.79%.

Thus, for the sale of this fuel, the tax administration will allocate a stimulus amount of 0.039 pesos per liter. While consumers will pay 4.95 pesos per litre. As for diesel, starting tomorrow Saturday, it will benefit from a budgetary stimulus of 3.58%, an amount also higher than the 1.53% received the previous week.

In this way, the tax support to distributors will be 0.23 pesos per liter, while consumers will pay a fee of 6.27 pesos per litre. Regarding the complementary stimuli, these remained at zero for all fuels, as has been the case since the beginning of this year.

It should be clarified that the Ministry of Finance has stated that the IEPS stimulus for gasoline which has been given since March 4 last year, was an effort by the federal government to stabilize fuel prices. and with it, fight against inflation; although since the beginning of this year the support has been gradually reduced, as is already the case.
