OECD: inflation fell by 10.3% in November 2022

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) reported that average year-on-year inflation for its 38 members, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), fell to 10.3% in November 2022.

In his analysis, before the end of 2022, he noted that inflation had returned to a level close to that recorded in August, which was 10.7% in the tenth month of 2022.

He revealed that between October and November, declines in inflation were reported in 25 of the 38 countries that make it up. Although in the rest of the countries it increased by at least 0.5 percentage point, as is the case in Chile, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, the Slovak Republic and Sweden.

At the same time, the highest year-on-year inflation rates were recorded in Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Turkey. Countries that reported inflation rates above 20%.

In the case of Mexico, the international organization reported that the CPI rose from 8.4 in October to 7.8% in November, also returning very close to what was recorded a year earlier in the eleventh month of 2021, which was 7.4%.

Energy price inflation fell from 32% to 24%

With regard to food inflation, the OECD has also pointed out that in Mexico the index fell from 14.5% to 12.4%. While inflation due to energy prices, also in this country, fell from 32 to 24%.

And it is that according to the international organization, energy inflation continued to fall to 23.9% in November, after October 28.1, reaching its lowest rate since September 2021.

However, he acknowledged that this indicator remained above 10% in 34 of the 38 countries of the OECD and more than 30 percent in 14 of them.

He claimed that energy inflation had come down in most countries, rising only in Czech Republic, Finland, Slovenia and Sweden. Food inflation remained stable at 16.1%, while inflation excluding food and energy fell slightly to 7.5% in November.

Finally, he indicated that among the G7 countries, inflation decreased in Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States and showed only small variations in the other countries. Food and energy inflation remained the main contributor to headline inflation in France, Germany, Italy and Japan, while non-food and energy inflation was the main driver of inflation in Canada, UK and USA.
